CeraVe cosmetic products are developed in collaboration with dermatologists. The founders of this brand noticed that in order to cure dry skin problems, it is necessary to strengthen the skin's barrier function, which is made up of as much as 50 percent ceramides. Based on these observations, the brand's product formulations have been enriched with essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid and fatty acids to help repair the skin. The formulations are minimal but extremely beneficial and effective for the skin. The products are fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic, suitable for all skin types. The range is very wide and includes 6 types of cleansers (CeraVe cleanser) which are easy to choose according to your skin type, moisturising face and body creams, sunscreens, moisturising lotions and cleansing micellar water.
What are the benefits of ceramides? Ceramides have many benefits that help to maintain healthy-looking skin. When the skin is deficient in ceramides, the skin barrier is weakened, which often leads to irritated, dry skin. A lack of ceramides can also lead to skin problems such as acne, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea. UV exposure, temperature fluctuations and age are factors that affect ceramide levels and can alter the skin barrier, which can lead to dry skin.
What does fragrance-free mean? First of all, it is important to understand how harmful these substances can be to the skin. Fragrances are often listed as an allergen in cosmetic products. For some people, fragrances can cause skin sensitivity or allergic reactions. Therefore, dermatologists often recommend choosing products that do not contain these substances. If you see "fragrance-free" on a product's packaging, it means that the product does not contain any fragrance chemicals or masking fragrances. All CeraVe products are free of these allergens.
What does non-comedogenic mean? It describes products that do not contain ingredients that can clog pores and cause acne. According to studies, the most comedogenic cosmetic ingredients that can clog pores are linseed oil, cocoa butter, olive oil and lanolin. For this reason, it is recommended to choose non-comedogenic products that will help to keep your skin clean, balanced and healthy, which is especially important if you have problematic facial skin. Non-comedogenic products are usually light in texture, free of oils and the most pore-clogging ingredients.
What does hypoallergenic mean? Cosmetic products labelled 'hypoallergenic' or 'safe for sensitive skin' mean that they are less likely to cause allergic reactions than products that do not carry this label. For this reason, products with this label are recommended for people with sensitive skin or those whose skin is prone to allergic reactions. Allergic reactions to skin care products may manifest themselves in the following symptoms: redness, itching, irritation, contact dermatitis. It is important to note that each person's allergy symptoms and triggers are unique, so no skincare product can be considered completely hypoallergenic!
How do I know if a product is non-comedogenic, fragrance-free or hypoallergenic? All the information about this should be readily available on the product packaging and label. Therefore, to find out if a product is safe and suitable for your skin, be sure to study the labelling and ingredients on the label.
Cerave cleansers The main purpose of cleansing the skin is to remove make-up, impurities and excess oil from the skin. However, this first and perhaps most important step in skin care also allows you to benefit from certain ingredients that can improve the overall condition and appearance of your skin. The ideal formula for a facial cleanser depends on your skin type and condition, which can change seasonally and even fluctuate due to hormonal or environmental factors. There are four main skin types: normal, dry, oily and combination. In terms of skin conditions, the main ones are: dehydration, sensitivity, ageing and rashes. Once you know your skin type, it will be much easier to choose the right face wash. Many face washes have a clear label indicating the type of skin they are for, so keep this in mind when you buy. Here are some guidelines to help you understand your skin type.
The main skin types are: Combination skin type Combination skin is both oily and dry. Oily skin is most common in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and dryness is most common in the cheeks, and people with combination skin often suffer from enlarged pores and blackheads. Oily skin type It's not difficult to recognise oily skin types. Oily skin differs from combination skin in that the oiliness is not only in the T-zone but also on the cheeks. This skin type is characterised by severely enlarged pores. People with oily skin suffer from blackheads and other skin rashes. Dry skin A dry skin type can be visually recognised by hardly noticeable pores, puffy skin tone, and frizziness. Due to a reduction in skin elasticity, people with dry skin often notice that wrinkles start to form early on the skin. IMPORTANT: Do not confuse dry skin with dehydrated skin. Normal skin type Visually, normal skin type can be identified by barely visible pores, smooth skin texture and tone. Normal skin is neither dry nor oily. Occasionally, there may be a slight oiliness in the T-zone (this is normal if it does not happen too often). Most of the time, the owners of such skin do not have any rashes, apart from isolated pimples, which disappear quickly.
You are already familiar with the signs that help you recognise your skin type, so here we will introduce you to the CeraVe cleansers, which are easily adaptable to different skin types and problems. Probably the most popular facial cleanser is the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, which is designed for normal to dry skin. Its creamy texture and rich formulation gently cleanses the skin without damaging the skin barrier, while moisturising the skin and strengthening its resilience. For oily skin, the Foaming cleanser with a gel texture is the best choice. This cleanser is not only suitable for oily skin, but also for normal skin during the warm season. Recently, an intermediate option between cream and gel textures has been developed - Cream-to-foam foaming cleanser, which is ideal for both dry/normal and combination skin. If you have particularly problematic skin - rough, uneven or plagued by rashes - you will find the Sa smoothing cleanser, which is enriched with salicylic acid and other skin benefits. And if you're into double cleansing, we've got some great news for you - CeraVe has recently launched a new Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser with an oil texture that perfectly removes make-up residue and other impurities from the skin. The newest cleanser is the CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser, which is specifically designed for problematic and acne-prone skin. These cleansers can be used not only on the face, but also on the whole body. This is especially useful if you have body acne or other skin problems that can be solved with Cerave body cleansers.
Facial moisturisers come in many different types: from day moisturisers with SPF to ultra-light gel creams or, conversely, ultra-rich creams for very dry skin. CeraVe face creams are fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and contain three key ceramides that help restore and maintain the skin's natural barrier. Cerave creams are the best thing you can give your face and body. One of the most popular cosmetic products is the CeraVe Moisturizing cream, which can be used for both face and body. The product is highly moisturising and nourishing. For those who do not like the thick texture of a cream, we have a very rich-textured moisturiser - CeraVe Lotion. It is a versatile product designed to moisturise the skin of the whole body, including the face. If you want something lighter for your face, choose the CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion, which has a slightly lighter texture but intensively moisturises the skin and strengthens its protective barrier. To protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays, choose a face cream with Facial Moisturising Lotion (SPF25). This protection may not be enough during the warmer months, so we recommend a sunscreen with SPF50 when the sun is hot.
